All eyewear sold by us — including ranges supplied via Sunstoppers — is 100% original, branded eyewear from authorised, official manufacturers. We are confident that you will love your new frames or sunglasses, but we understand that exceptional circumstances may occur.

To ensure fairness, transparency, and consumer protection in line with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) of South Africa, we have created a clear and simple returns and refunds policy.

1. Returns for Defective or Damaged Products

If the item you received is damaged, defective, or not of the expected quality, please report this to us immediately upon receipt so we can assess the issue.

• You may return defective or damaged eyewear within 7 (seven) days of receiving your purchase, provided the item is unworn, unused, and in perfect condition.

• If confirmed as a manufacturing defect, Optical Emporio will repair, replace, or refund the item in accordance with the manufacturer’s warranty.

2. Manufacturer Warranty

All sunglasses and frames sold by Optical Emporio are covered by official manufacturer warranties.

• Any item found to be defective within the warranty period (from date of purchase) will be repaired or replaced according to the manufacturer’s terms.

• If a repair or replacement is not possible, a refund may be issued.

• Optical Emporio will handle the entire warranty claim process on your behalf.

3. Change of Mind / Non-Manufacturing Returns

We offer a 7-day return window for customers who change their mind or experience a non-manufacturing issue.

To qualify for a full refund:

• The product must be returned within 7 days of purchase.

• The item must be unworn, unused, and in 100% resalable condition.

• All original packaging, boxes, cleaning cloths, cases, tags, and accessories must accompany the return.

• If items are returned in a condition not suitable for resale, Optical Emporio reserves the right to withhold up to 100% of the refund value after assessment.

Return Shipping:

• Return courier fees for “change of mind” or non-manufacturing returns are for your account.

• We can arrange collection via our in-house couriers on request and will provide a quote.

• Alternatively, you may courier via PostNet to PostNet (Hillcrest, KZN) or use your own courier.

• If exchanging glasses, the courier fee for sending the replacement pair back to you is also for your account.

4. Refund Method

• Approved refunds will be processed via EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer) only.

• Refunds are issued after the returned goods have been received and assessed.

• We will contact you to request your banking details.

5. Non-Returnable Items

To protect product hygiene and quality, certain items cannot be returned:

• Any eyewear returned after 7 days (unless covered under warranty).

• Items not in their original condition or missing packaging.

• Prescription lenses once manufactured, customised, or fitted.

• Gift cards, promotional items, or complimentary products.

6. Black Friday & Cyber Monday Sales

All items purchased during Black Friday Weekend or Cyber Monday promotions are strictly non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
This applies to all sale items regardless of reason, including change of mind, incorrect choice, or preference.

7. Consumer Protection Act Compliance

Optical Emporio’s policies operate in full alignment with the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
We reserve the right to:

• Inspect and assess any returned item before issuing a refund or exchange.

• Deny returns that fall outside of CPA guidelines or this policy.

• Withhold refund amounts where items are returned in a condition unfit for resale.

1. Authenticity Disclaimer
Optical Emporio guarantees that all eyewear sold is 100% authentic and sourced from official, authorised manufacturers. We do not sell imitation or replica products.

2. Colour & Display Disclaimer
Product colours may vary slightly due to digital screen calibration, lighting conditions, and photography. These variations do not constitute product defects or grounds for return.

3. Fit & Comfort Disclaimer
Eyewear fit varies based on face shape and individual preference. Returns for discomfort or fit issues fall under our standard 7-day change-of-mind policy and must comply with all return conditions.

4. Wear & Tear Disclaimer
Damage caused by misuse, accidents, lens scratching, neglect, exposure to heat, chemical products, or general wear and tear is not considered a manufacturing defect and is not covered under the manufacturer’s warranty.

5. Prescription Lenses Disclaimer
Prescription lenses are customised medical devices.

• Once cut, fitted, or manufactured, lenses cannot be refunded or exchanged.

• Returns of frames fitted with prescription lenses will be assessed on the frame only, not the lenses.

• Optical Emporio is not responsible for incorrect prescription information provided by the customer.

6. Warranty Assessment Disclaimer
All warranty claims are subject to assessment by the manufacturer or authorised technician. Approval or rejection of a warranty claim is at the manufacturer’s discretion, not Optical Emporio’s.

7. Courier & Transit Disclaimer
Optical Emporio is not liable for delays, loss, or damage occurring while a customer uses their own courier to return goods. Items returned via third-party couriers remain the customer’s responsibility until safely received and inspected by Optical Emporio.

8. Hygiene & Usage Disclaimer
Eyewear that shows signs of wear, makeup residue, stretching, scratching, or any form of use will not qualify for a refund or exchange unless the issue falls under a valid manufacturing defect.

9. Sale Items Disclaimer
Products purchased during promotional periods (including but not limited to Black Friday and Cyber Monday) are strictly non-returnable and non-refundable, except in cases of proven manufacturing defects as defined by the CPA.

10. Legal Compliance Disclaimer
