Exceptional service, they dont force you to buy the most expensive glasses either if you need it. We did my daughter and my appointment at one go and was so accommodating and explained everything in detail.

An exceptional experience, from the very first phone call to the moment I walked out the door.

Optical Emporio is one of the few stockists of Oliver Peoples eyewear in Durban. I initially contacted them because I needed prescription lenses fitted to a new pair of frames, as well as replacement nose pads for an older pair that had proven particularly difficult to source.

Having already approached several other optometrists without success, I was beginning to lose hope of finding a solution. That changed with a simple phone call to Optical Emporio.

Lynne was wonderfully reassuring, taking the time to understand my predicament and instilling confidence that they could assist. It was an enormous relief to finally speak to someone who seemed genuinely willing to help, and I booked an appointment without hesitation.

Even before my visit, the attention to detail was apparent. I received a thoughtful appointment reminder, accompanied by a Google Maps link to make finding the practice as convenient as possible.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by a beautifully presented store, with a wide selection of eyewear, tasteful modern interiors and an inviting atmosphere. The air conditioning was also a welcome respite from Durban's humidity! The entire onboarding process, facilitated by the ever-welcoming Lynne, was refreshingly straightforward and seamless.

My consultation was with Dr Philip Botha, whose professionalism was matched by his warmth and personable demeanour. Beyond conducting a thorough eye examination for my new prescription lenses, he took the initiative to reassess my contact lens prescription after I mentioned some uncertainty about its accuracy. I particularly appreciated that he didn't simply limit the consultation to what I'd originally booked for, but took the time to address my concerns comprehensively.

Throughout the examination, Dr Botha was patient, attentive and wonderfully easy to engage with. His manner immediately put me at ease, and I left feeling confident that my eye care was in capable hands.

I was equally impressed by his thoughtful approach to selecting my prescription lenses. Rather than pushing unnecessary extras, he took the time to understand both my practical needs and the aesthetic I was hoping to achieve. He recommended a subtle yellow tint to complement my vintage tortoiseshell frames, alongside a protective coating. His suggestions felt genuinely considered rather than commercially motivated, ultimately elevating the look beyond what I'd initially envisioned.

All the above being said, what impressed me most was the team's willingness to go beyond what was expected of them.
The replacement nose pads for my older spectacles are exceptionally difficult to source, something I'd discovered through my unsuccessful enquiries elsewhere. Rather than dismissing the issue or leaving me to find a solution independently, the team went out of their way to provide a temporary fix while arranging a permanent solution for the following week.

It may seem like a relatively small gesture, but to me, it spoke volumes about their approach to customer care. It's one thing to provide a professional service; it's quite another to demonstrate genuine consideration for someone's needs, particularly when doing so requires additional time and effort.

It's these seemingly small gestures that distinguish good service from truly exceptional service.

To Lynne, Dr Botha and the rest of the Optical Emporio team, thank you for making what began as a rather frustrating search for assistance such a pleasant and reassuring experience.

You've certainly earned my trust and future patronage. For anyone looking for an optometrist who combines professional expertise with genuine warmth, attentiveness and a willingness to go the extra mile, I couldn't recommend Optical Emporio more highly.

We had a fantastic experience at this practice. My daughter's glasses were broken beyond repairs and we promptly received a second pair. They were patient, professional and empathetic and the glasses are top notch.

I had taken my 8 year old daughter to Optical Emporio a few weeks ago. Nikki is an amazing optometrist. She took time and care during the eye examination and picked up that she has a lazy eye. My daughter adores her and loves her new glasses. Nikki and Lynn thank you for the delightful and friendly customer care.

Absolutely thee best opticians! I have, in the past few months, bought a few pairs of glasses. They have a great variety of brands/styles! Service is excellent! Opticians, and staff, are SO divine, and very helpful 👌🏻
They adjust one’s glasses as needed. They clean all your glasses, whenever you want to pop in ✨
Just ordered my sunglasses, and readers…excited to receive 😆

Referred by our son who had enjoyed a wonderfully positive experience a couple of weeks ago, I too was absolutely astounded by the unrushed, personalised care, and level of service from the time I made the appointment to picking up my glasses. As a reluctant wearer of glasses, I had no idea that going for an eye test and choosing frames could be reassuring and pleasurable and I am thrilled with them. Thank you!

Thank you to the Optical Emporio team for their truly exceptional service given to my 89 year old Dad and I. Your collective skill, clinical competence, and genuine commitment to customer care set a standard that is beyond the standard.
A particular and heartfelt thank you to Preneshnie, whose patience with my rather specific requests never wavered. Her collegiality, warmth, and willingness to go well beyond the call of duty to ensure my Dad and I were completely satisfied with our frames did not go unnoticed — it was deeply appreciated. She is a remarkable professional and a true asset to your practice.
Thank you for making what could have been an ordinary visit an altogether outstanding one.

I popped in to reshape some sunglasses I’d purchased elsewhere. Ronaldo was nothing short of exceptional. He helped me right away and explained some technical aspects to reshaping and tightening my glasses and made the changes for me immediately. Really great service and he didn’t charge me anything.
